Woven Easter Basket with Big Bow and Five Painted Eggs

This chunky woven basket has a curved, twisted-rope handle, a large ribbon bow on top, and five decorated Easter eggs piled inside. In the back row you'll see a zigzag egg, a horizontally striped one, and one covered in little flowers. Up front there's an egg with circles, a heart-patterned egg in the middle, and a striped egg on the right. Jagged paper grass pokes out around them all, and the basket has a brick-style weave with a rim of rectangles. Big shapes and bold lines make it a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids working on pencil control. Pink or purple would look great on the bow, and each egg can get its own pastel, maybe yellow zigzags, blue stripes and red hearts. Save it as a free PDF when you need a quick coloring break. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the woven basket: color the basket bricks and the rim in light tan, and the handle in caramel brown with twisted stripes.
- 2Fill the eggs with their main colors: the polka dot egg in cornflower blue, the zigzag egg in golden yellow with a sky blue base, the striped middle egg in mint teal, the flower egg in orange, and the striped right egg in lavender.
- 3Color the big bow and its tails in coral pink, and paint the leaves and bedding at the bottom with leaf green and pale yellow accents.
- 4Add the heart egg in coral pink, then fill the hearts in bright red on the center egg.
- 5Optional: Leave the polka dots, the flower centers and the highlights white so the eggs pop, and add light shading on the lower side of each egg.
