Year of the Dog Chinese New Year Page

A leaping dog in profile takes up most of this page, its body filled with papercut-style patterns. You can spot flowers with rounded petals, swirling spirals, crescent moons, small leaf shapes and a zigzag patch on the front leg. The tail curves up behind it. Above the dog hangs a round paper lantern with a tassel, and the Chinese character for dog sits inside it. The top of the page has the greeting 新年快樂 in outlined letters, and the French words Année du chien appear to the right of the lantern. Try coloring each flower a different shade and keeping the spirals in one color so the patterns stand out. It also works well as a language prompt, since kids can match the character on the lantern to the French caption. This printable is a nice fit for a Lunar New Year class activity.
