A to Z Alphabet Chart with Animals and Rainbow
Coloring guide
This busy chart has twenty-six little picture boxes running from A to Z, and each letter comes with something to color: an apple, teddy bear, cat, dog, elephant, fish, grapes, house, ice cream cone, jellyfish, kangaroo, lion, monkey, bird's nest, owl, penguin, a queen with a crown, rainbow, sun, tiger, umbrella, violin, whale, xylophone, yo-yo and zebra. Along the top you'll see a smiling sun, a rainbow, two little birds and a cottage with a picket fence, and at the bottom a bunny and a squirrel wait by a pond. Flowers and stars frame the edges. It's a handy free printable for practicing letter recognition and sounds. Maybe an apple in red for A, a blue whale for W and a golden yellow lion for L, and let your child choose the rainbow colors. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big tile backgrounds, using butter yellow, baby blue, pale lavender and light pink in a soft mix across the alphabet grid.
- 2Color the sun and the top rainbow next, using golden yellow for the sun and tangerine orange, leaf green and sky blue for the rainbow stripes.
- 3Fill the letters with bright shades: cherry red for the A and N, sky blue for B and L, soft purple for M and T, and golden yellow for G and O.
- 4Add the animals: keep the bear, penguin belly and rabbit white, color the elephant light gray, the squirrel tangerine orange and the apple cherry red.
- 5Finish the grass, bushes and river with grass green, leaf green and lime green, leaving the sky and clouds white.
- 6Optional: add a little extra shading on the letters and animals with a slightly darker shade of the same color for more depth.
