Big round eyes and a happy smile light up this baby ankylosaurus as it walks across the page, nibbling the tip of a large fern frond. Oval plates and pointy spikes cover its armored back, and the striped tail finishes in a round, bumpy club. A plain circle sun sits in the upper right, with leafy ferns on the left and along the bottom. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big body, head, tail and fern leaves with leaf green, leaving the small white belly patch and the fern highlights white.
- 2Fill the round tail club, the large back plates and the head plates with caramel brown.
- 3Color the pointy spikes and the small belly plate with buff tan and butter yellow.
- 4Add cream to the little foot pads and the tips of the feet, and use lime green on the grass tufts at the bottom left.
- 5Optional: Add slightly darker green shading along the belly and under the plates for depth.
- 6Leave the sun circle and the background white to finish the scene.
