This little dragon is all smiles as it holds up a layered birthday cake with three lit candles. You'll see big round ears, small spikes on its head and tiny bat-like wings. The cake has wavy lines of frosting and a row of dots around the top, and it rests on a plate on a table. Triangle bunting is strung across one top corner, and through an arched stone window you can spot a small castle with a flag far off. Look to the left for the dragon's curled tail poking out. Everything is drawn with large shapes and clear outlines, so small hands can color it easily, whether it's for a party table or a calm afternoon. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the dragon's head and body in bright green, leaving the eye whites, the small nose, and the gaps between the wings and body white.
- 2Color the wings, the tail, and the bunting flags with tangerine orange, then add the golden yellow head spikes and tail tip.
- 3Fill the cake top and inner ears with rose pink, the cake middle band and lower tier with cream yellow, and the cake plate with sky blue.
- 4Color the candle flames golden yellow and the candle stripes in sky blue, light blue, cherry red, violet purple, and pale pink, leaving the white stripes on the candles.
- 5Add the arched window stones and the window ledge in light gray, the tower in cherry red and light blue, and the bushes in dark green.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the edges of the wings and body with a slightly deeper green or orange to make the dragon pop.
