Baby Elephant's Striped Umbrella Puddle Splash

Rain is coming down on a smiling baby elephant who stands under a big striped umbrella, spraying a stream of water from its trunk into a puddle. The splash has little droplets and ripples, so there's lots to color. Big leaves frame the corners and sides, a few of them looking like monstera and palm leaves. The elephant has big round eyes, floppy ears with line details and a small tufted tail. Wide umbrella panels and simple outlines suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, while the water and puddle let older kids try shading. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the elephant's head and body with light gray, leaving the eye shines, tail highlight and the lighter spot on the front leg white.
- 2Fill the umbrella panels in order: red, orange, golden yellow, pale yellow, leaf green and bright blue, letting the top knob be golden yellow.
- 3Color the big ear and the inside of the rain-dodging ear with coral pink, then add the orange and cream details along the lower edge of the umbrella.
- 4Paint the leaves and plants around the edges in leaf green, lime green and dark green, and color the raindrops and water spray in sky blue.
- 5Color the toenails and the puddle with cream and sky blue, and leave the splash highlights white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker gray under the belly and along the legs for depth, and use dark gray on the tail tuft.
