Baby Lamb in a Spring Flower Meadow

In the middle of a grassy field stands a curly-wooled baby lamb, head tilted a little and wearing a sweet smile. It has big sparkly eyes with long lashes, floppy ears, a fluffy puff of wool on its head and a round tail at the back. Daisies, dandelion puffs and tufts of grass fill the meadow around its hooves. Soft rolling hills sit behind it, along with a small bushy shrub on the left and one puffy cloud in the sky. The wool is drawn in bumpy outlines, which gives little ones lots of texture to color. Creamy yellow or pale gray would suit the fleece, with soft pink on the nose and inner ears and bright purples and oranges on the flowers. It's a nice one to print for classroom time or a rainy day. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the grass green on the hills, the grassy field, and the grass tufts and blades around the flowers.
- 2Color the bushes and leaves forest green, including the bushes on the left and right and the leaves at the bottom.
- 3Fill the lamb's fluffy wool, legs, and tail with soft cream, leaving the flower petals and eye whites white.
- 4Color the lamb's face light peach, the inner ears pale pink, and the hooves chocolate brown.
- 5Add rose pink to the pink flowers, golden yellow to the flower centers, and lavender purple to the dandelion puffs.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading to the grass and under the lamb's wool to give the scene more depth.
