Baby Squirrel Grinning Beside Three Pine Cones

Coloring guide
Sitting upright with a big open-mouthed grin, this little squirrel has large shiny eyes and tufted ears that curl up at the tips. The fluffy tail curves behind its back, and soft fur lines on the chest and cheeks are fun to color. Three round pine cones with scale patterns sit at the bottom in front of it, and a pine branch with needle-like leaves reaches in from the right. With no background, the page stays clean and simple for little hands. Big shapes help preschoolers, while the pine cone scales keep older kids busy. Try orange-red for the fur and tail, soft browns for the pine cones and bright green for the branch. Easy to print at home or in class. This fits right in with our Squirrel coloring pages — see also Puppies and Cats.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- burnt orange
- chestnut brown
- pale yellow
- soft pink
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the squirrel's fluffy tail, head, body, and round ears with burnt orange, leaving the eye whites and the pine branch uncolored.
- 2Fill the inside of both ears and the little nose and open mouth with soft pink.
- 3Color the chest, the belly patch, and the paws with pale yellow.
- 4Color all three pine cones in chestnut brown, working scale by scale so each bump stands out.
- 5Keep the eye whites and the pine branch white so the eyes sparkle and the branch stays light.
- 6Optional: Add a few darker orange strokes along the tail and under the chin for a little depth.
