This little squirrel hugs a thick tree trunk, one paw reaching up the bark while a back foot grips below. It looks over its shoulder at you with big shiny eyes, a tiny nose and an open smile. The large fluffy tail curls behind it and has lots of wavy fur lines to fill in. Long bark lines run down the tree, and there's an oval knothole near the top right. You'll spot leafy branches in the upper left corner and two more leaves at the lower right. Bold outlines and roomy shapes make this free printable easy for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Orange-browns look nice on the fur and tail, with a creamy color for the face and belly, deep brown on the trunk and fresh greens for the leaves. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the squirrel's tail, body, head and ears with warm orange, leaving the eye whites and teeth white.
- 2Fill the inner parts of both ears with soft pink, then color the light belly and the arm patch with light peach.
- 3Color the tree trunk and both branches with bark brown, leaving the background around the trunk white.
- 4Fill the hole in the tree with dark brown so it stands out from the bark.
- 5Color all the leaves with leaf green, including the small one near the bottom right, and leave the leaf veins white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of warm orange on the tail and body to give the fur a little texture.
