A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sea in ocean blue and the sky clouds in pale sky blue, leaving the thin white wave lines and the sun outline white.
- 2Fill the beach sand on both sides and under the family with sandy beige, and color the picnic blanket corners in cream and coral red.
- 3Color the umbrella panels with lemon yellow and tomato red, and shade the underside of the umbrella with golden yellow.
- 4Use peach skin for all the faces, arms and legs, then add chestnut brown and caramel brown to the hair and golden yellow with sandy beige to the big sun hat.
- 5Add bright blue to dad's t-shirt and the fruit bowl, leaf green to the boy's shirt, navy blue to his shorts, lilac purple to the girl's swimsuit, and tomato red to the mom's dress, watermelon slices and blanket.
- 6Finish the basket in caramel brown and the blanket checks in salmon pink and coral red, leaving the checker squares near the bottom white. Optional: add a little darker shading on the faces and under the umbrella for depth.
