Little Sea Turtle Swimming Off the Beach with Tiny Fish

A happy baby sea turtle with big sparkly eyes and a wide smile is gliding through the water. The shell is made of large, bold sections that are easy to color, while the four flippers are covered in spots and ovals that are good for practicing detail work. Two little round fish swim close by, one on each side below the turtle. Wavy lines across the top mark the surface of the water, and bubbles in different sizes float all around. Along the bottom, tall strands of seaweed stand on both sides of a sandy floor with a few pebbles. Greens and browns are a natural choice for the shell, with lighter green or teal on the flippers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the turtle's shell with caramel brown, using tan brown on the lighter plates and dark brown on the plates along the outer edge.
- 2Color the head, neck, belly and both flippers with lime green, leaving the eye whites and the shine spots white.
- 3Add forest green and grass green spots and dots on the flippers and head to give the turtle its pattern.
- 4Color the seaweed on both sides of the picture with grass green and forest green, and the pebbles at the bottom with light gray.
- 5Fill the two fish: golden yellow stripes and orange fins on the left fish, bright yellow stripes and sky blue body on the right fish, with a bright red tail and pink mouth on the left fish and a deep blue tail on the right.
- 6Color the bubbles light blue and leave the background white. Optional: Add a little darker shading under the shell and flippers to make the turtle look rounder.
