A little sailboat bobs along on wavy lines of water, drawn with bold outlines and simple shapes. It has two big triangular sails on a tall mast with a round ball on top, and the striped hull has a round porthole on the side. A seagull flies overhead with its wings spread wide. The round sun in the upper left has short rays and no face, and three puffy clouds drift around the sky. Thick lines and large open areas help preschoolers and early elementary kids color without getting frustrated. Red or yellow sails look good, the hull can be blue and white stripes, and layers of blue and teal suit the waves. Feel free to print it for kids and grown-up coloring fans alike. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sun: fill the center and all its rays with golden yellow, leaving the outlines crisp.
- 2Color the two sails with sky blue, then fill the two clouds with pale blue.
- 3Fill the boat hull with coral red, and color the mast and its top knob with warm brown.
- 4Color the waves in ocean blue for the top band and pale blue for the lower band, keeping the porthole white.
- 5Add light gray to the tip of the seagull's wing, leaving its body white as the paper shows through.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker blue along the bottom edges of the sails and waves for depth.
