Birthday Pig Behind a Cake and Balloons

Sitting behind a big birthday cake with five tall candles, a cheerful little pig wears a polka-dot party hat and grins with rosy round cheeks and sparkly eyes. Patterned bunting flags hang overhead above polka-dot, striped and heart-covered balloons. In the back you'll spot a leafy garden hedge, a wooden chair and a table with small wrapped presents. The foreground has a vase of flowers with a bow, a plate of star-shaped cookies, scattered confetti, curly streamers and two more gift boxes tied with ribbons. Lots of dots, stripes and small patterns make it a good choice for kids who like detail. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: fill the pig's head and body with pale peach, and the tablecloth and table with lemon yellow, leaving the eye whites white.
- 2Color the pig's snout with soft salmon, then paint the ears, cheeks and open mouth with coral red.
- 3Fill the cake tiers and frosting with pale cream, and color the cake plate underneath with light blue.
- 4Add the party decorations: the party hat in sky blue, the red balloon in cherry red, the purple balloons in lavender purple, and the bunting flags in tangerine orange and violet purple.
- 5Color the leafy green bushes and foliage, then add the gift boxes in sky blue, rose pink and caramel orange, and the pig's paws in chocolate brown.
- 6Optional: add light shading with a slightly darker shade of each color, and keep the eye whites and the flower and balloon highlights white.
