Across a grassy meadow runs a smiling boy with tousled hair, holding a long-handled net high in one hand. Four smiling butterflies flutter around him, each with big patterned wings and curly antennae, and dashed lines trace where they've flown. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the boy's skin: color his face, neck, arms, hands and legs peach skin, leaving the eye whites and smile teeth white.
- 2Color the hair chestnut brown and the t-shirt tomato red, keeping the small white highlight on his upper arm.
- 3Fill the shorts and sneakers with royal blue, then add light blue to the shorts cuffs and the back of the shorts, keeping the socks and shoelaces white.
- 4Paint the two big butterflies with bright blue and light blue wings and soft pink bodies, and the smaller butterflies with lavender purple and golden yellow wings.
- 5Color the bushes grass green and the grass blades and leaves lime green, keeping the flower petals and the net mesh white.
- 6Optional: Add a little extra shading in darker tones along the bushes and the shadow side of the shorts to make the drawing pop.
