Compound Leaf With Five Serrated Leaflets

Coloring guide
A single leaf made of five pointed leaflets grows from one long stem. The tall center leaflet has a pointed tip, and two leaflets angle out beside it. Two larger leaflets stretch to the far left and far right near the bottom. Each leaflet has a jagged, toothed edge and thin veins branching off a central line, so there are lots of small sections to fill in. The thick outline keeps things easy for younger kids, while the fine vein lines give older kids room for detail. Try coloring each leaflet in a slightly different shade of green, or use yellow, orange and red for a fall look. It also works well for a nature lesson on how compound leaves differ from simple ones. Print it free and bring along a real leaf to compare.
