Compound Leaf With Long Oval Leaflets

Coloring guide
A single branch of a compound leaf stretches up the page along a thin central stem. Long, rounded leaflets grow off both sides, with four on the left, five on the right, and one on top at the tip. Each leaflet is an elongated oval with a smooth outline and a faint midrib line running down the middle. The left leaflets slant downward toward the stem, and the right ones sweep up and outward, so the whole branch looks a bit like a feather. The shapes are big and open, which makes them easy for small hands to color. Try a different shade of green for each leaflet, then use a darker pencil to trace the thin center veins. You can also count the leaflets together and talk about how they pair up along the stem. Print it free for a quiet nature lesson or an easy afternoon activity.
