Crested Bird Perched on a Branch With Long Tail Feathers

Coloring guide
A single bird sits on a thick branch, facing right with its small beak pointed out. It has a spiky crest of feathers on top of its head, a rounded chest patch, and lines of layered feathers running down its back and wing. Two long tail feathers trail far down below the branch, taking up most of the lower page. At the end of the branch, a few heart-shaped leaves curl upward. The long open shapes make this an easy page for steady crayon strokes. Try coloring the back and tail in shades of green and blue, then leave the chest patch a different color so the body parts stand out. It also works well for a short lesson on how birds use feathers for perching, flying, and balance.
