Determined Baby Chick Hauling a Big Easter Egg
Coloring guide
With a tuft of feathers on its head and a slightly furrowed brow, this little chick hugs a huge patterned egg in both wings and marches off. Small motion lines by the chick and the egg show it's in a hurry, and its orange feet are caught mid-step on a winding path of oval stepping stones. The egg is split into bands of zigzags and rows of circles, so there's lots to fill in. Little daisy-style flowers and grass tufts sit in the corners. Bright purple, turquoise and pink would look striking on the egg stripes, with sunny yellow for the chick. You can save it as a free PDF, and it's for coloring fans of any age. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the whole chick, including its head, body, and wing, with lemon yellow.
- 2Color the top of the egg and its bottom edge with lavender purple, then add sky blue across the middle stripe.
- 3Fill the zigzag stripe near the top of the egg with soft orange, and the wide zigzag stripe lower down with bubblegum pink.
- 4Color the green stripe with grass green, and use tangerine orange for the beak and both feet.
- 5Add bubblegum pink dots on the egg, and use tan brown for the puddles on the ground.
- 6Finish with grass green for the grass and leave the eye whites, flower petals, and background white. Optional: add a little darker shading under the chick and egg to make them pop.
