Forest Animals Listen as Elf Plays Flute on a Log
Coloring guide
Music notes and swirly breezes drift overhead as a young elf with pointy ears sits on a mossy log and plays a long flute. His floppy pointed hat has a leaf tucked in, and he wears a belted tunic and curly-toed boots, with his feet dangling over the side. A sitting bunny is on the left, a small spiky hedgehog at the bottom, and a fox with a big bushy tail on the right, all looking up as if they are listening. A little bird perches on the log with its beak open, singing along. Grass tufts, small flowers, leafy sprigs and a tree stump cover the ground. Soft greens and browns are good for the moss and log, and a bright red hat will make the elf easy to spot. Save the free PDF for a fun afternoon activity. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the elf's hat and tunic forest green, and the elf's pointy ears and face skin peach, leaving the eye whites and the music notes white.
- 2Fill the log, the elf's pants and boots with chocolate brown, and color the moss on the log lime green.
- 3Color the rabbit and the hedgehog's back in caramel brown and dark brown, then add the fox body in fox orange with a cream chest and tail tip.
- 4Use sky blue for the bird's wing and head, and golden yellow for the feather on the elf's hat.
- 5Add honey tan to the flute and the rabbit's tail, and use coral pink for the inner ear of the rabbit.
- 6Optional: Add a few darker strokes of dark brown on the hedgehog's spines and chocolate brown on the log edges for depth.
