Baking Elf Cutting Star and Heart Cookies

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the elf's face and hands peach skin, and fill the table top and legs with warm brown, leaving the eye whites and shiny highlights white.
- 2Color the elf's hat, tunic and sleeves leafy green, then add bright red to the hat band, the collar and the cuffs, and golden yellow to the hat pompom.
- 3Fill the rolled dough and the cookie shapes with butter yellow, leaving the star and heart cutouts in the dough and the cookie shapes on the tray as they appear in the example.
- 4Color the cookie tray and the right and left pans slate gray, the mixing bowl sky blue with a white stripe, and the rolling pin and stool in caramel orange and warm brown.
- 5Optional: Use a slightly darker shade of each color on the shadowed sides, such as the table edge and the elf's sleeves, to add depth. Keep the background and window clouds white.
