Butterfly Ride for a Little Elf Above the Flowers
Coloring guide
Riding on the back of a big smiling butterfly, a cheerful little elf in a pointy pom-pom hat holds on near its head as they fly. The butterfly has large round eyes, curly antennae and a striped body. Its wide wings are filled with big petal-shaped sections and rows of dots along the edges. Two puffy clouds drift in the sky above, and daisy-style flowers with leaves fill the bottom of the page. Small hands can manage the big open wing shapes, and the dots and the elf's tunic give older kids a bit more to do. An orange and yellow butterfly with a green hat on the elf would help the rider stand out. This free printable fits a quiet afternoon, a spring lesson or a fairy tale craft table. Add this to your Elf coloring page collection, alongside Unicorns and Dragons.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big wings: color the large wing panels in bright yellow and the wing sections near the body in orange, leaving the thin wing edges for later.
- 2Fill the purple wing borders and the dotted edges with violet purple, then color the smaller round dots on the wing edges in rose pink or light pink to match the example.
- 3Color the flower petals with light pink and lilac, add amber yellow centers, and fill the leaves and grass with leaf green and mint green.
- 4Color the elf's hat in red with an amber yellow pompom, the shirt and arm in leaf green, and the face in peach skin, keeping the eye whites white.
- 5Add the butterfly body and head in bright yellow with a few amber yellow shadows, then color the clouds in light blue and sky blue.
- 6Optional: Leave the background, the eye whites, and the small highlight spots white to make the colors pop.
