Reindeer Sled Ride with a Smiling Elf in the Snow

A smiling little elf sits on a wooden sled with curled runners and holds the reins while a cheerful reindeer trots ahead, pulling him through the snow. The elf has a pointed pom-pom hat, a zigzag collar, a belt with a big buckle and striped stockings. The reindeer has big antlers, a round nose, and a harness with a ring of jingle bells across its chest. Snowflakes and little snowballs drift through the air behind them, a snowy hill rolls across the middle and evergreens stand on both sides. Big open shapes work for younger kids, and the bells, stripes and snowflakes give older kids more to color. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the reindeer: fill its head, body, chest, and legs with caramel brown, leaving the muzzle and mouth area for later.
- 2Color the elf's jacket, sleeves, and hat in forest green, then add bright red to the hat trim, pompom, collar, and stockings, keeping the thin white stripes on the stockings.
- 3Fill the reindeer's antlers, ears, and muzzle with peach beige, then color the hooves dark brown and the nose dark brown as well.
- 4Paint the sled's runners, front curl, and slats in sandy tan, and fill the sled sides and seat with sky blue and reddish brown.
- 5Color the snowy hills in sky blue and the reins and harness in bright red, then add golden yellow to the bells, leaving the background snow and tree highlights white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading under the reindeer's belly and on the elf's hat to make the drawing look more rounded.
