Farmer Feeding Two Pigs at the Trough

A smiling farmer in a wide-brimmed hat and overalls tips a bucket, and a stream of feed pours into a round wooden trough. Two cheerful pigs stand on either side, curly tails and big grins, waiting for dinner. Behind them are a wooden fence, a big barn with X-braced doors and a hanging lamp, a tall silo, a windmill, a leafy tree and fluffy clouds. A barrel sits on the left, and flowers fill the corners of the meadow. All those small feed pieces are good practice for careful coloring. You might go for soft pink on the pigs, warm golden yellow on the grains and classic red on the barn. It's a free sheet to print at home for a classroom project or weekend craft. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the grass, bottom corners and fence area in lime green, and fill the bushes and tree leaves with bright green.
- 2Color the hills and the small bushes near the fence in forest green, leaving the top cloud white.
- 3Paint the barn walls and roof barn red, and the silo silver gray, then fill the barn doors warm gray.
- 4Color both pigs piglet pink, and the farmer's shirt and jeans sky blue and medium blue, with the hat golden yellow.
- 5Fill the trough and fences tan brown, the trough base chestnut brown, and the bucket charcoal gray with grain left white.
- 6Optional: Add a little peach on the farmer's face and hands, and dark brown on his boots, leaving eye whites and the pig highlights white.
