Frog Rowing a Watermelon Boat Through the Lily Pond

Coloring guide
Inside a hollowed-out watermelon half, a happy frog with big round eyes and a wide open smile paddles across a pond with a long wooden oar. The boat has wavy stripes down its side and little seed shapes along the rim, which makes the rind fun to color. Ripples spread out around it, and lily pads and two blooming water lilies float close by. Tall cattails and grass rise on both sides of the page, and a smiling dragonfly hovers in the upper right corner. Lines are clean and spaces are a nice size, so preschoolers and early elementary kids can manage it. Bright green stripes on the rind with a pink or red inner rim look great, and a lime green frog with spots finishes it off. It's a free printable for kids and coloring fans of all ages. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the frog: fill its body, arms, and legs with lime green, leaving the eye whites and the bright highlight spots white.
- 2Color the watermelon: use bright red and cherry red for the flesh, pale lime for the rim, and alternate leaf green and forest green stripes on the rind. Leave the little seed spots uncolored.
- 3Fill the lily pads with leaf green, then paint the lotus flowers with bubblegum pink, soft pink, and peach, adding golden yellow to the small flower centers.
- 4Color the paddle with caramel brown, the cattails with chestnut brown, and the grass blades with leaf green and forest green for depth.
- 5Add the dragonfly: sky blue for the body and pale blue for the wings. Paint the frog's mouth rose pink and its belly butter yellow.
- 6Optional tip: add a little forest green along the edges of the lily pads and under the frog to make the scene feel more grounded.
