Gardening Hedgehog Watering Tulips and Carrots, Calico Critters
Coloring guide
A smiling hedgehog in a wide-brimmed sun hat, with a flower on the band, tips a big watering can over the garden beds. The droplets fall in a curving line toward a row of young carrots. This little gardener wears overalls with rolled-up cuffs and stands behind a line of tulips. A wooden picket fence, a wheelbarrow and a few bushes fill in the back, and a happy butterfly flutters at the top right, trailing a dotted path. Older kids will enjoy the detail in the spiky fur, while the big tulips and carrots are easy for small hands. Orange carrots with bright green tops look good, and you could mix pink and yellow tulips against a blue watering can. The free PDF downloads with no sign-up. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background: color the grass, bushes and fence posts in lime green, leaf green and sandy tan, leaving the sky and the butterfly white.
- 2Fill the hedgehog's face, hands and feet with peach skin, then color the spiky back in chocolate brown and keep the lighter spike tips white.
- 3Color the overalls in royal blue, the shirt and wheelbarrow in bright red, and the watering can in sky blue with a slate gray spout.
- 4Add the hat in lemon yellow with golden yellow on the brim edge, and leave the flower petals and center white so they pop.
- 5Color the tulips in bright red, lemon yellow, violet purple and orange, and the carrots in carrot orange, then fill the leaves with leaf green.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the hedgehog's spikes and under the hat brim to give the drawing more depth.
