A smiling little girl kneels on the wet sand and reaches down for a spiral shell. She's wearing a wide-brimmed sun hat with a bow and a sleeveless ruffled sundress covered in flowers, and her other hand holds the handle of a sand bucket. Her wavy hair falls past her shoulders. A scallop shell, a clam-style shell, a starfish and a few small pebbles are scattered along the shoreline, with gentle waves rolling in behind her under a simple horizon line. The dress flowers are a good size for small hands, and the big shapes of the hat and bucket are easy to fill in. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the skin areas, including the face, both arms, hands, knees and chest, with skin peach. Leave the flowers on the dress white.
- 2Fill the sea and waves with sky blue, deep blue and bright aqua, and keep the white foam on the waves and the shoreline white.
- 3Color the hat and the hair with sunny yellow and golden yellow, and add pale yellow to the brim and shaded areas. Make the hat band and bow hot pink.
- 4Paint the dress in hot pink with soft pink ruffles on the straps, keeping the white flowers unpainted. Color the bucket sky blue with a deep blue rim and bright aqua handle.
- 5Color the shells and starfish: the scallop shells in orange, the spiral shell in lavender purple, the middle shell in light salmon and the starfish in vermilion red.
- 6Optional: add a light gray shadow on the sand beside the bucket and a few pale yellow shadows under the knees for depth.
