Grassy Profile of a Smiling Peacock and Its Fanned Tail
Coloring guide
This cheerful peacock stands in profile with its big round tail fanned out behind like a giant half circle. Every feather has a large oval eye in the middle, with long lines running down toward the body, which makes lots of sections to fill in. On its head is a small crest of five dotted tips, and it has a friendly eye, a pointed beak and a long curved neck. The folded wing is drawn with scalloped feathers, and the thin legs end in long toes. Two small tufts of grass sit on a simple ground line at the bottom, with nothing else in the background. Deep teal and royal blue would look good on the neck and wing, and each feather eye could get a ring of green, purple and gold. This free printable page is a good match for kids who love patterns and don't mind taking their time. Love this Peacock coloring page? You might also enjoy our Puppies and Cats coloring pages.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the large fan of tail feathers with leaf green and the outer lower feathers with bright green, leaving the eye-shaped spots for later.
- 2Color the eye-shaped rings on every tail feather with golden yellow, keeping them neat along the edges.
- 3Fill the centers of the eye spots with navy blue so they stand out against the yellow rings.
- 4Color the peacock's body and head with bright blue, then add sky blue and cobalt blue to the wing feathers.
- 5Paint the crest plumes and the neck details with deep green, and color the legs and feet golden yellow.
- 6Optional: Leave the small gap between the legs and the grass white, and add a little darker shading along the tail feathers for depth.
