Grinning Carrot Vegetable with Leafy Top
Coloring guide
Standing upright in the middle of the page, this little carrot has big round eyes, rosy cheek marks and an open smile that shows a tiny tongue. Short curved lines across the middle of its long, tapered body look like the ridges on a real carrot. Three ruffled leaves with simple veins fan out from the top, and small grass tufts sit on either side of the pointed tip at the bottom. Big shapes and bold outlines mean little hands can color without much frustration. Bright orange for the body, two greens for the leaves and grass, and brown for the pupils is an easy plan. This free printable suits preschoolers, kindergarten veggie units, or a quiet afternoon at the table. This fits right in with our Vegetable coloring pages — see also For Girls and For Kids.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- carrot orange
- leaf green
- coral pink
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by coloring the whole carrot body with carrot orange, going around the cheeks and the face lines.
- 2Next, fill in all the leafy top sections with leaf green, including the left, middle, and right leaves.
- 3Color the open mouth with coral pink, leaving a little space at the edges so the outline stays crisp.
- 4Leave both eye whites and the small highlight on the leaves white so the face and leaves look shiny and lively.
- 5Optional: Add a bit of darker orange along one side of the carrot and darker green at the base of the leaves to give them some depth.
- 6Finish by checking for any gaps in the outlines and touching up the smile or leaf veins with a steady hand.
