Splashing Duckling in a Spring Puddle

Coloring guide
A fluffy little duckling kicks up its webbed feet and splashes around in a rippling puddle. Its wings are stretched wide, its beak is open in a big smile, and it has round sparkly eyes and a small tuft of feathers on its head. Water droplets fly out on both sides, and rings of ripples spread across the pond at the bottom of the page. The soft, feathery body outline leaves kids lots of room to practice gentle strokes and small details. Bright yellow feathers with an orange beak and feet would look right, and light blue is good for the splashes and ripples. You can download it as a free PDF, and no sign-up is needed. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- lemon yellow
- sky blue
- tangerine orange
- bubblegum pink
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the large duckling body, head, wings, and tail feathers with lemon yellow, leaving the small white feather highlight near the left wing edge untouched.
- 2Color the puddle ripples and all the water splashes around the duckling with sky blue, including the small drops on both sides.
- 3Fill the beak, both webbed feet, and the beak tip edge with tangerine orange to make them pop against the yellow.
- 4Add bubblegum pink inside the open mouth so the duckling looks happy and cheerful.
- 5Finish by leaving the eye shines white, then carefully fill any small remaining gaps so the colors stay neat.
- 6Optional: add a slightly darker yellow along the lower edges of the body and wings for a little extra softness.
