A smiling young peacock stands with both feet in the water of a round stone fountain, glancing back over its shoulder while splashes fly up on both sides. It has a little three-ball crown, big sparkly eyes, and a cheerful open beak. Its long tail drapes down the right side of the fountain, filled with teardrop-shaped feather eyes to color one by one. Lily pads float on the water, and the scalloped bowl rests on a tall pedestal with leafy plants at the base. Large open shapes suit younger kids, and the feather patterns keep older children busy. - 1Color the peacock's head and body with royal blue, leaving the eye whites and teeth white.
- 2Fill the wing with ocean blue and add leaf green along its top edge and the back feathers.
- 3Color the fountain bowl and pedestal with sand beige, and the bowl's scalloped panels with cream.
- 4Paint the tail feathers: use light sky blue and deep navy blue for the eye spots, forest green and olive green for the outer feathers, and mustard gold for the feather tips.
- 5Fill the water, lily pads and splashes with light sky blue and pale blue, then color the crest balls golden yellow, the beak golden yellow, and the legs orange.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shade of blue to the edges of the body and the water to give the picture more depth.
