This zebra is on the move. With a wide smile, big eyes and a wind-swept mane, it bounds over the grass with its front legs tucked up and its tail flicking behind. Dust puffs swirl around the hooves and grass tufts dot the ground. Up above, a round sun with long rays shines over two fluffy clouds, a flat-topped acacia tree and some gentle hills. The bold stripes on the body, neck and legs are good practice for careful pencil work, and the large open areas work well for little hands with chunky crayons. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big sun in the top left with golden yellow, leaving the rays outlined.
- 2Fill the small cloud in the sky with sky blue and the bushes and tree leaves with forest green.
- 3Color the zebra's mane, tail, and dark stripes on the body and legs with charcoal, and the hooves too.
- 4Shade the nose, the chin, and the head with warm gray, and make the open mouth coral with the inside ears in soft pink.
- 5Color the grass patch under the belly with lime green and the two dust clouds near the feet with peach.
- 6Optional: Leave the zebra's white stripes, eyes, and forehead white, and add a little silver gray on the hooves for depth.
