Harvest Basket With Vegetables and Straw Hat

A big woven basket sits on the grass, filled to the top with garden vegetables. You can spot two carrots with leafy tops, three tomatoes, a round pumpkin, a long zucchini, an ear of corn with its husk, two bumpy cucumbers, a bell pepper and a leafy head of lettuce behind them. In front of the basket rests a wide-brimmed straw hat with a band and a flower tucked on the side. A sun with rays shines in the corner, and small flowers, grass tufts and bushes fill the background. Try coloring each vegetable its true color, then talk about which ones grow underground and which grow above it. The basket weave and hat rings are great for practicing careful, steady strokes with markers or colored pencils. It is a nice printable pick for a Labor Day table or a classroom lesson on farm workers.
