Hot Air Balloon Kids Waving Above the Mountains
Coloring guide
Two kids, a boy and a girl, lean out of a woven basket and wave as their hot air balloon drifts high in the sky. The big balloon has a zigzag triangle pattern, a band of round and oval dots across the middle and tall vertical stripes on the top and bottom sections. Fluffy clouds float around the edges, a few little birds fly off to the right, and three snow-capped peaks sit at the bottom of the page. Younger kids get big shapes to fill on the balloon, and the dots, triangles and basket grid are good practice for smaller crayon strokes. Red, yellow and orange suit the triangles, with calm blue for the sky and gray or purple for the mountains. Print or download it free for screen-free fun at home. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big balloon panels: color the top and lower sections of the balloon red, orange, lemon yellow and leaf green, leaving the white highlight areas untouched.
- 2Fill the middle band of the balloon with aqua blue and the zigzag triangles above and below it with golden yellow and purple, alternating the two colors.
- 3Color the basket in brown and tan, then add light brown details where the weave meets the rim.
- 4Paint the two kids: peach for faces and hands, dark brown for the boy's hair, light brown for the girl's hair, pink for her shirt, and sky blue for his shirt.
- 5Color the mountains with grass green and forest green, add pale blue snow caps, then fill the clouds in pale blue and the hills in leaf green. Optional: add a little darker shading along one side of each mountain for depth.
