Cozy Snowy Cabin with Smoking Chimney and Mountains

Under a thick blanket of snow sits a cozy log cabin, its stone chimney sending a big curly puff of smoke into the sky. The shutters beside the upstairs window have heart cutouts, and two more shuttered windows with snowy sills flank the front door. A tall snow-dusted pine stands on the right, a small snowy bush sits in the left corner, and smaller evergreens line the hills behind. Two snow-capped mountains rise in the background while puffy clouds drift by. Log walls, stone chimney and scalloped snow give kids a nice mix of textures to color. Warm browns and tans work for the logs, red for the hearts, and soft icy blues for snow shadows and the mountain tops. Free to print, and good for quiet time at home or at school. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big background mountains and the right mountain with sky blue, leaving the snowy peaks, clouds and chimney smoke white.
- 2Fill the log walls, roof edges, gable logs and bottom logs with caramel orange, keeping the snow on the roof and eaves white.
- 3Use chocolate brown for the darker corner logs, the small block at the top of the gable and the window frames' lower logs.
- 4Color the window shutters and heart cutouts with leaf green, and the left bushes and small hill trees with forest green.
- 5Fill the chimney stones and the front step with warm gray, and color the window panes with light blue.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of chocolate brown on the shaded side of the logs and a touch of pale ice blue on the small left cloud for a snowy feel.
