Eagle Flying Over a Rocky Mountain Peak

With wings spread wide, a happy eagle glides through the sky just above a jagged mountain peak. It has a friendly open-beaked smile, round eyes, fluffy chest feathers and curved talons tucked under its body. Each wing is built from layered feathers of different sizes, so there are lots of small sections to fill in. Three puffy outlined clouds float nearby, and the rocky mountain below has angular ridges and a few rounded bushes near the base. Thick, clean lines work well for crayons and chunky markers, while the feathers are a good match for colored pencils. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the mountain peaks and rocky slopes with cool gray, leaving the dark crack lines unfilled.
- 2Color the eagle's body and the inner upper wings warm brown, keeping the head and chin feathers white.
- 3Fill the long flight feathers of both wings and the tail with bright blue, and add slate blue to the lower feathers near the belly.
- 4Color the wide patches on the wings, the beak, the legs and the feet golden yellow, leaving the talons white.
- 5Paint the clouds light sky blue and the bushes at the bottom leaf green, leaving the sky background white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of cool gray or bright blue along the feather edges for a little depth.
