A snug log cabin sits in the middle of this page. The corners show stacked round log ends, the front door is made of planks, and there are three small four-pane windows, one of them high up in the gable. A stone chimney lets out one big puffy curl of smoke. Tall pine trees stand on both sides of the cabin and three snow-capped peaks rise behind it. Out front, a simple wooden fence with chunky posts runs beside a winding path to the door, and tufts of grass and a few rounded rocks sit close by. Between the chimney stones and the wall planks, there are plenty of tiny spaces for kids to fill. Browns and tans suit the logs, grays and blues the mountains, and deep greens the pines. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big mountain behind the cabin in mountain blue, leaving the snowy peaks white.
- 2Color all the pine trees on both sides in pine green, adding forest green to the darker tree tops and the small pine behind the cabin.
- 3Fill the cabin walls and the round log ends with log brown, and color the steep roof in brick red.
- 4Color the fence, the front door and its frame in wood tan, then the boulders and the chimney in light gray and stone gray.
- 5Add lime green to the grass in front of the cabin, and fill the window panes with sky blue, keeping the window frames white.
- 6Optional: Add a few darker strokes of pine green or log brown along one side of the trees and walls for a little shading.
