A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Leave the zebra stripes, eyes, muzzle lines and the bush outline white, since the coat and background stay bright.
- 2Fill the mother's inner ear and the foal's inner ear with coral pink.
- 3Color the mother's and foal's manes with light gray, then add charcoal gray in the darkest mane sections.
- 4Shade the mother's muzzle, the foal's tail and the tail tuft with charcoal gray, and fill the hooves with dark gray.
- 5Color the mane bands on the mother's neck with medium gray and the lower part of the mother's neck with dark gray for depth.
- 6Optional: Add a little light gray and medium gray shading along the legs and body edges to give the zebras a softer, rounded look.
