Marching Baby Chicks in a Flower Meadow

Coloring guide
Three fluffy chicks parade from right to left across a grassy meadow, each one smaller than the one ahead. The biggest leads the way with a happy open-beaked smile, big round eyes and a little tuft of head feathers. The middle chick follows, and the tiniest one trails at the back. All three have small wings and wide flat feet caught mid-step. Grass tufts cover the ground around them, and five simple flowers with rounded petals are scattered along the bottom of the page. Large shapes and bold outlines make this free printable easy for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Yellow chicks with orange beaks and feet look cheerful, and the flowers can be pink, purple and blue. This fits right in with our Baby Chicks coloring pages — see also Easter for Kids and Easter Egg Hunt.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- lemon yellow
- tangerine orange
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by coloring all three chick bodies with lemon yellow, leaving the eye whites untouched.
- 2Fill the small chick, middle chick and big chick bodies, including their little wings, in lemon yellow.
- 3Color the beaks and the legs and feet of all three chicks with tangerine orange.
- 4Leave the eye whites, the flower petals and the flower centers white so they stand out against the grass.
- 5Optional: Add a little extra lemon yellow shading along the edges of the bodies for a softer, fluffier look.
- 6Finish by adding black outlines or leaving the grass and background white, as in the example.
