A friendly young horse stands front and center, head turned slightly, with big sparkly eyes and a gentle smile. Its long wavy mane and full tail sweep out to one side as if a breeze is moving through the field. Behind it are a simple wooden fence on the left, a few rolling grassy hills and fluffy clouds drifting across the sky, with small tufts of grass up front. The wide, open body shape is easy for little hands, and the flowing mane and tail give older kids some fun detail. Soft pastel stripes in rainbow colors on the mane and tail would look cheerful, followed by a bright blue sky and green hills to wrap up the countryside. This one is a free printable. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the horse body, head, legs and outer ears in caramel brown, using smooth strokes that follow the outline.
- 2Color the inside of both ears soft pink and fill the muzzle with pale peach.
- 3Fill the flowing mane and the long tail with pale yellow, leaving thin white streaks between the strands so they look windswept.
- 4Color the grass tufts and the meadow ground in lime green, then fill the bushes and the hill on the right with leaf green and forest green.
- 5Use light brown for the fence posts, dark gray for the four hooves, and sky blue for the small cloud on the left, leaving the large cloud on the right white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of caramel brown along the shadow side of the body and legs to add depth.
