Mom and Her Little Boy Catching the City Bus
Coloring guide
A smiling mom and her young son stand side by side at the open door of a city bus, about to step on. She has shoulder-length hair, a long-sleeved top, slim pants, flat shoes and a big bag hanging from her shoulder. The boy wears a small backpack and looks up at the bus with a happy face. On the bus you'll see large front windows, round headlights, a side mirror and a destination sign over the windshield. Off to the left, a covered bus shelter with a wooden bench sits beneath a leafy tree with leaves falling, and bushes peek out behind. There are plenty of big open spaces here for little hands. Bright yellow or green would suit the bus, and soft blue works for the boy's backpack. Let your child pick colors for the tree leaves and mom's bag. This fits right in with our Bus coloring pages — see also Airplane and Hot Wheels.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: color the tree leaves and bushes in leaf green and lime green, and the tree trunk in chestnut brown.
- 2Fill the bus body with royal blue along the roof, sides and front, and add golden yellow to the lower side stripe and the front lower panel.
- 3Color the bus windows and windshield in pale blue, leaving the background wall and the small headlight white.
- 4Paint the woman with coral pink for her top and sleeve, steel blue for her pants, chestnut brown for her hair and peach skin for her face, neck and hands.
- 5Color the boy with bright blue for his jacket, tan for his pants, leaf green for his backpack and peach skin for his face and hands.
- 6Finish with the bench in honey brown, the sidewalk in light gray, the road in slate gray, and add charcoal gray to the bus bottom and destination sign. Optional: add a little darker shading under the bus and the people for depth.
