Monarch Butterfly on a Milkweed Blossom Cluster

A large monarch-style butterfly rests on a round cluster of star-shaped blooms. Its curled tongue reaches toward the flowers while its long antennae curve up and back. The wings are shown from the side with bold black outlines, rows of dots along the edges, and big open panels split by thick veins, which are easy for small hands to fill in. A few flower buds sit at the edge of the cluster below the butterfly, and long pointed leaves fan out on both sides of the stem. The plain white background leaves lots of room for your own ideas. Bright orange in the wing sections works well, with the dotted borders left white or colored yellow. Soft greens on the leaves and pink or lavender on the flowers help the butterfly stand out.
