Mouse Behind the Wheel: Calico Critters Country Drive
Coloring guide
Sitting behind the steering wheel of a small vintage-style car, a happy little mouse with big round ears grips the wheel with both paws and grins with its mouth wide open. A woven basket is strapped to the back, and the mouse's long tail curls up next to it. The car has big round wheels, round headlights and a grille on the front. A winding path runs behind it past grass tufts, bushes, two leafy trees and a gently rolling hill. Large shapes and clear outlines work well for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the free printable suits a quiet afternoon. Try soft gray or tan on the mouse, bright cherry red on the car and golden brown on the basket, with fresh greens for the trees and grass. Kids who like Calico Critters coloring pages usually enjoy Baby Shark and Pokémon too.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background: color the grassy hills and the grass patches with light green, and the small bushes and tree tops with bright green and forest green.
- 2Color the tree trunks and the basket with caramel brown, and fill the car body, hood, and seat back with bright red, leaving the sky and the tree highlights white.
- 3Fill the mouse's head, body, ears, and arms with light gray, then add pale pink inside the right ear and a rose pink nose.
- 4Color the car's tires charcoal gray and the wheel hubs and radiator grille golden yellow, and tint the headlights pale blue.
- 5Add the steering wheel in chocolate brown with a sky blue center, the paws and hand in peach, and the front bumper in orange.
- 6Optional: Add a little slate gray shading on the seat and along the tires to give the drawing more depth.
