Night Sky Fairy Tale Castle on the Clouds
Coloring guide
Resting on a fluffy bank of clouds, a tall castle fills this night sky scene, with a big crescent moon in the upper right and small stars scattered everywhere. The central tower has a pointed scalloped roof and a flag, and four smaller towers each carry their own little flag. Look for arched windows, a crenellated wall, stone bricks, and a big arched wooden double door with round handles at the bottom. Three little birds flying around the towers add some sweet movement. Big shapes keep it easy for small hands, and the roof scales and bricks give older kids detail to enjoy. Deep purple and navy would make a great sky, with soft pink roofs and a yellow moon and stars. It's a free printable that suits quiet time or a bedtime art session. This fits right in with our Castle coloring pages — see also Unicorns and Dragons.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the clouds: color the big cloud shapes at the bottom and the smaller clouds on the sides in pale blue, leaving the outlines dark.
- 2Fill the castle walls and towers with silver gray, and the stone blocks, battlements and arch stones around the door in light gray.
- 3Color the pointed roofs of all the towers in bright pink, with the scalloped bands kept in the same pink for a clear pattern.
- 4Paint the wooden door in warm brown, then add the window glass and the flags in golden yellow, the stars too.
- 5Use bright blue for the birds and their wings, and color the small ledge rings under the top tower in dusty mauve.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on one side of the walls and clouds, and leave the moon, window highlights and the background white.
