Pond Duck with Cattails and Lily Pads

Coloring guide
Here's a happy duck paddling across a calm pond, mouth open in a big smile. The round head, sparkly eye and flat bill are drawn with bold, easy lines, and a line around the neck splits the head from the body. One wing has scalloped feathers, and a small tail pokes up at the back. Ripples circle the duck, two lily pads float along the bottom, and a grassy bank on the right holds three tall cattails. Younger kids can handle the big shapes, while the feathers and grass blades give older kids more to detail. A glossy green head with a white neck ring looks great, and soft browns work for the wing and cattails. It's a free printable for a quiet afternoon or a nature lesson. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big duck body, wing and tail with light brown, and leave the head and neck white.
- 2Color both lily pads and the grass tufts by the pond edge with leaf green.
- 3Fill the three cattails with rusty brown, including their tops.
- 4Color the duck's beak with golden yellow and the open mouth inside the bill with coral pink.
- 5Leave the eye white and the duck's head and neck white so the face stays bright and friendly.
- 6Optional: add a few darker brown strokes along the wing feathers and under the body for a bit of depth.
