Bible Story Page: Kneeling Man Praying Among Four Lions
Coloring guide
In the middle of a rocky cave, a bearded man kneels with his eyes closed and his hands pressed together in prayer. His long robe has wide sleeves and a cloth belt at the waist. Four friendly-looking lions rest around him, two in the top corners and two at the bottom, each with a big fluffy mane, a calm face and paws stretched out in front. Straight beams of light shine down through an opening in the cave ceiling, and the rough stone walls and ground are drawn with bold outlines. It pairs well with Bible lessons about prayer, courage and trust. Soft golds and yellows suit the light rays, warm tan and orange the manes, and deep blue or brown the robe. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the light beams streaming down from the top of the cave with pale yellow, and color the small cloud at the very top with sky blue.
- 2Color the cave walls and rocky ledges with warm brown, using tan brown for the lighter rocks along the bottom edge of the cave.
- 3Fill the lions' faces, paws, and bodies with golden yellow, then color their thick manes with warm brown, leaving the little eye whites and teeth unfilled.
- 4Color the kneeling man's robe with cream, his outer cloak with soft blue, his hands and face with light tan, and his hair with dark brown.
- 5Add the cream belt sash and the white floor rocks and patches so the background stays light and bright.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker brown shading along the bottom of the lions' manes and under the cloak to give the picture more depth.
