Puddle-Jumping Kids Beneath a Rainbow
Coloring guide
A boy and a girl in hooded raincoats and tall rubber boots leap and splash through muddy puddles on a country path, both grinning with their arms thrown out wide. Water droplets fly up around their boots, and the raincoats have button fronts and big square pockets that are fun to color. A large striped rainbow arches behind them over cottages with chimneys and tiled roofs, a stone wall, a wooden fence, leafy trees and tufts of grass along the lane. Fluffy clouds fill the top corner. Bright yellow for one raincoat and sky blue for the other looks great, and then the rainbow bands can take all the colors of the spectrum. It's a free printable for a screen-free activity at home. - 1Start with the rainbow arcs: color the top band tomato red, the next orange, then mustard yellow, bright blue and violet purple, leaving the sky inside the arc white.
- 2Color the boy's raincoat and hood lemon yellow, and the girl's coat and hood coral pink, leaving their faces and hands peach skin.
- 3Fill the boy's jeans denim blue and the girl's leggings light blue, then color the rain boots tomato red for the boy and violet purple for the girl.
- 4Color the houses with terracotta orange roofs and peach skin walls, the stone wall and grass in grass green, and the dirt path sandy brown.
- 5Finish the puddles in light blue, add chocolate brown hair and tan brown fence posts, and leave the highlights in the eyes and clouds white. Optional: add a little extra blue on the puddle edges for depth.
