Raindrops fall all around a smiling girl who stands under a big umbrella at a bus shelter. She wears a hooded raincoat with two little pockets, tall rain boots, and a backpack. Behind her, a wooden bench sits inside the shelter, and two puddles dot the pavement. Across the road a bus pulls closer, its friendly driver in a cap waving from the front window. Three fluffy clouds fill the sky and bushes are drawn behind the bus. It's a nice starting point for talking about rainy days, staying dry, and riding public transport. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: fill the road in charcoal gray and the sidewalk and curb in light gray, leaving the painted road dashes white.
- 2Color the bus shelter roof and posts in steel blue and deep blue, then fill the bus body in deep blue and the clouds and window glass in pale blue.
- 3Paint the umbrella in coral red with dark red edges, then color the girl's raincoat, boots and bus headlights in golden yellow.
- 4Add the girl's skin peach face and hands, chocolate brown hair, and deep blue pants and backpack, leaving the eye whites white.
- 5Fill the bench in caramel orange with charcoal gray legs, color the bushes in grass green and the puddles in sky blue, and keep the background white.
- 6Optional: add a few lighter or darker strokes on the umbrella and puddles to make the rain feel more real.
