Root Vegetables and a Tiny Worm in the Soil

Up from a bumpy bed of soil pop three round, smiling root vegetables, each wearing big leafy greens covered in curly veins. The largest is in the middle with tall leaves fanning out behind it. A medium one on the left has a wide-open grin, and a small one on the right looks on with a gentle smile. In the bottom right corner, a tiny striped worm peeks up next to the little vegetable with the friendly face. Small pebbles and soil mounds are scattered over the ground. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill all the big leaves and the leaves on the smaller beets with leaf green, leaving the eye whites of the faces uncolored.
- 2Color the stems at the bottom of the leaves with lime green.
- 3Fill the large central beet and the left beet with berry magenta, and the small right beet with soft purple, keeping the two eye whites white.
- 4Color the worm, including its head and tail, in light pink, then fill the mouth of the left beet with coral pink.
- 5Fill the soil mounds and small clumps scattered along the bottom with earth brown.
- 6Optional: add a slightly darker shade along the lower edges of the beets and leaves for a bit of depth.
