Round-Headed Whale With Barnacles and a Water Spout
Coloring guide
This cheerful whale pops up from the waves with a big round head, a happy smile and one large shiny eye. A fountain bursts from the blowhole on top, with six teardrop splashes hanging in the air around it. Little barnacle clusters and bubble-like dots sit on both sides of the head, and curved lines run along the belly. One flipper reaches into the lower left corner, and wavy lines at the bottom mark the surface of the ocean. Young children with chunky crayons will do well with the large open shapes, while the barnacles and water drops give older kids some tiny details to tackle. Soft sky blue works for the body, lighter aqua for the belly, and a sparkly turquoise for the spray. A free page to print for any age. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- sky blue
- cream beige
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the water spout: fill the spray drops and the splashes above the head in sky blue, and color the blowhole ring the same blue.
- 2Next, fill the lower belly area of the whale in cream beige, following the curve from the mouth down to the bottom of the body.
- 3Color the three barnacles on the head and the two on the right side in cream beige, leaving their small ridged edges as white highlights.
- 4Leave the eye white and the little shine spot in the eye unpainted so the eye looks bright and lively.
- 5Optional: add a slightly darker cream stroke along the edge of the belly to give the whale a little depth.
