Seaside Sandcastle Otter for Calico Critters Fans
Coloring guide
Kneeling in the sand, a smiling otter in a wide-brimmed sun hat with a flower on the brim presses a little shovel into a tall sandcastle. The castle has three towers, arched windows, a big arched doorway and a small pennant flag on top. Behind the otter, gentle waves roll in, a cloud sits on the horizon and a striped beach umbrella leans on the right. A bucket with a handle sits on the left, and a scallop shell, a spiral seashell and a starfish lie on the dotted sand at the bottom. Thick, clean outlines and open spaces keep it comfortable for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Make the hat flower bright pink or yellow, then go with soft golden tones for the sand and cool blues for the water. A free printable for a summer afternoon or a rainy-day beach craft. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the sea, its little waves and the cloud on the left with light sky blue, leaving the wave lines as thin white gaps.
- 2Color the otter's head, ears, body, tail and arms warm brown, and add light peach on the cheeks.
- 3Fill the sandcastle, the hat and the hat brim with golden yellow, then color the hat ribbon hot pink and the castle windows and gate dark gold.
- 4Color the bucket bright blue with a sunny yellow handle, the shovel and the umbrella panels bright red, and keep the umbrella stripes, flower petals and eye shines white.
- 5Add the scallop shells in soft pink, the starfish in orange, the tongue in rose red, and the spiral shell in cream and light peach.
- 6Optional: add a little darker brown along the otter's tail and under the hat to make the colors feel more dimensional.
